Over the past 25+ years of supporting adults with ADHD, I’ve witnessed something powerful:

Real change doesn’t come from information alone—it comes from connection, support, and being seen.

That’s why I’m launching something new:
✨ The ADHD Coaching Project – Real People. Real Coaching. ✨

And I’m inviting six adults with ADHD to join me for a free 6-week group coaching experience—no cost, no catch, just real support, real momentum, and real community.

💬 Why I’m Doing This

There are so many people out there living with ADHD who feel stuck, overwhelmed, and alone.

Maybe that’s you.
Maybe you’ve been silently struggling—knowing what you “should” do, but unable to follow through.
Maybe you’ve thought about coaching but weren’t sure what it actually looked like… or if it would even help.

That’s why I created this project.
Because I want to show what real ADHD coaching actually looks like:
Unfiltered. Compassionate. Messy. Effective.

🌍 Why I’m Sharing It Publicly

I’ve decided to share this coaching experience on both:
▶️ YouTube (ADHD Support Talk channel)
🎧 ADHD Support Talk Radio (podcast)

Why? Because I want to reach as many people as possible.

I want the person scrolling YouTube at 2 a.m. feeling like a failure to stumble across one of these episodes and realize:
“Wait… this is ADHD? This is how coaching works? I’m not the only one?”

This isn’t just about helping six people in a private group. It’s about creating something that can spark insight, healing, and momentum in hundreds or even thousands of others who watch or listen.

📝 How You Can Be Part of It

Before I select the six participants, I’m hosting a live group Zoom call where I’ll:
âś… Explain what the project is all about
âś… Answer your questions
âś… Offer a short sample of ADHD coaching
âś… And connect with those interested in joining the full experience

Tara, I recently read a book I highly recommend to you, written by Doctor Elaine Aron, PhD. Her book, a New York Times best seller when it was first published, is titled “The Highly Sensitive Person” and was a rewrite of her PhD. thesis. In her research, Dr. Aron discovered a built-in difference in people that appears to be as fundamental as being right handed or left handed. In this case, something like 1 person in 5 or 6 is what Dr. Aron calls a Highly Sensitive Person, or HSP. This is not directly associated being an interovert, because Dr. Aron says that some 30% of the HSP population are extroverts. However, I think that having a more sensitive nervous system and hesitating a little bit before reacting to an external stimulus do match more closely with my own ADD (but not ADHD) characteristics. Dr. Aron opened an interesting vein of psychological research, and many people have followed in her footsteps, exploring the concept of the HSP. Until I read Dr. Aron’s 25th anniversary edition of her book, I didn’t understand why I found my neighborhood Starbucks as distressing as it was. I enjoyed the coffee, but not the high sound levels there. But I discovered that by using some reusable ear plugs, suddenly that Starbucks became enjoyable because the high sound levels in that coffee shop were reduced enough by the reusable ear plugs that the sound levels were now below the threshold of my involuntary startle response.

I suspect that many other ADD/ADHD people are also HSPs and have physiological responses to high ambient sound levels in places like Starbucks. I think you are in a good place to both explore this possibility, and perhaps refer the HSPs you encounter to Dr, Aron’s book, “The Highly Sensitive Person”, and possibly to other books and websites as well. Here is a link (slightly modified to not trigger a web browser) to her website: https (colon)//hsperson (dot) com/

I hope this is useful information for you. I know it certainly was for me, because suddenly I understood what was happening to me physiologically and psychologically. I always knew I was different from other people, but beside my ADD/ADHD “Hunter in a Farmer’s World” (Thank you Thom Hartmann!) difference, I thought there was still something else “wrong” with me. Now I know I am just part of two minorities, the HSP minority is probably as unique as the ADD/ADHD minority is.

Thank you for your time and for your contributions to the ADD/ADHD community!
