I’m excited to share that I was recently a guest on ADHD Focus with Dr. David Pomeroy! 🎧
We had a great conversation about something I’ve been using more and more in both my work and everyday life: AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude — and how they can actually support adults with ADHD in practical, real-life ways.
This was such a fun episode to be part of because we weren’t talking about AI in a complicated, tech-heavy way. We talked about how adults with ADHD can use AI to help with everyday things like communication, decision-making, planning, prioritizing, and getting unstuck.
And honestly? I think this is a topic more adults with ADHD should be talking about. 💜
😆 First, About That AI Thumbnail…
Since the episode is about AI, I have to mention the YouTube thumbnail.
The image on the video was AI-generated, and apparently AI decided to create a slightly strange alternate-universe version of me.
So just to be clear: that creepy-looking thumbnail is not actually me.
It’s AI Tara.
Maybe from a parallel universe.
Maybe from a late-night tech experiment gone wrong.
Maybe AI just had too much caffeine that day. ☕😂
Thankfully, the actual conversation is much better than the thumbnail.

✨ Why I Was Excited to Be a Guest
I was really glad to be invited onto ADHD Focus to talk about this topic because AI is something I’ve been using more and more as a support tool.
Not because AI is perfect.
Not because it replaces coaching, body doubling, accountability, or real human support.
And definitely not because it always creates flattering thumbnails. 😆
But because it can be incredibly useful when your brain is overloaded, scattered, stuck, or trying to sort through too many things at once.
For many adults with ADHD, the challenge isn’t always that we don’t want to take action. Sometimes the challenge is that there’s too much happening in our heads, and we can’t figure out what to do first.
That’s where AI can sometimes help create a little more clarity.
💬 AI Can Help With Communication
One of the things Dr. Pomeroy and I talked about is how AI can help with communication.
That might mean writing an email, responding to a message, explaining something more clearly, or figuring out how something might come across before you send it.
I’ve found this especially helpful because sometimes I know what I mean, but getting it out in a clear and organized way is another story.
AI can help create a pause before I respond. Instead of sending something too quickly, overexplaining, sounding too abrupt, or getting stuck rewriting the same sentence ten times, I can ask AI to help me make it clearer.
One thing I’ve noticed is that if ChatGPT doesn’t understand what I’m trying to say, there’s a good chance another person might not understand it either.
That can actually be useful feedback because it helps me slow down, clarify my thoughts, and communicate more effectively.
🧩 It’s Not Just for Writing
A lot of people think AI is mainly for writing blog posts, emails, or social media content.
Yes, it can help with that.
But what we talked about on the podcast goes beyond writing. AI can also be useful for very practical, everyday ADHD support.
For example, it can help with:
✅ Sorting through a messy brain dump
✅ Figuring out what to do first
✅ Breaking down an overwhelming task
✅ Making a plan that is actually realistic
✅ Comparing options before making a purchase
✅ Checking whether something seems suspicious or scammy
✅ Figuring out what to make with food you already have
That kind of support can be a big deal for adults with ADHD because sometimes the problem is not the task itself.
The problem is figuring out where to begin.
🔥 AI Can Help With Getting Unstuck
We also talked about how AI can help when you feel stuck.
And ADHD stuckness is very real.
Sometimes a task is too vague. Sometimes there are too many steps. Sometimes everything feels equally important. Sometimes the project has been sitting there for so long that even looking at it feels overwhelming.
AI can help make things more concrete.
You can ask it things like:
“Help me turn this into a 20-minute task.”
“What is the first step?”
“Make this less overwhelming.”
“Help me choose the top three priorities.”
“What can wait until later?”
The answer may not be perfect, and you don’t have to follow it exactly. But it gives you something to react to, adjust, or use as a starting point.
And sometimes that starting point is what helps you finally move into action.
⚠️ AI Is Helpful, But It’s Still Just a Tool
One important part of the conversation was also talking about the limits of AI.
AI can be helpful, but it is not human. It does not replace real support, coaching, accountability, body doubling, or connection with people who actually know you.
It can also be wrong. It can misunderstand things. It can make things up. It can sound confident even when it is off.
And sometimes it makes a YouTube thumbnail that looks like it came from a haunted version of LinkedIn. 😂
So no, I don’t see AI as the final answer. I see it as a support tool.
A very useful support tool — but still a tool.
🎧 Why This Episode Matters
I really appreciated being invited onto ADHD Focus to talk about this because I think a lot of adults with ADHD are curious about AI but may not know how to use it in a way that actually helps.
It doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t have to become an expert. You don’t have to use it for everything.
You can start small.
Ask it to help you rewrite an email.
Ask it to organize a messy list.
Ask it to help you choose a few priorities.
Ask it to figure out the next step on something you’ve been avoiding.
That’s what made this conversation so valuable. We weren’t talking about AI as some abstract future technology. We were talking about how it can help with real-life ADHD challenges right now.
The messy task list.
The email you don’t know how to answer.
The project you keep avoiding.
The decision that feels harder than it should.
The mental clutter that makes it difficult to begin.
Those are the kinds of everyday moments where AI can offer a little more structure and support.
💜 Final Thoughts
I’m grateful I had the opportunity to be a guest on ADHD Focus with Dr. David Pomeroy and talk about this topic.
AI is not magic, and it’s not a replacement for human support. But when used thoughtfully, it can be a practical tool for adults with ADHD who want help getting clearer, getting organized, and getting into action.
And yes, sometimes AI may also create a creepy version of you for a thumbnail.
But that’s part of the adventure. 😆
The real me is in the episode — and I’m excited to share the conversation with you. ✨
