Adult ADHD Today Show Segment

I just learned from my friend and colleague Jennifer Koretsky that the NBC Weekend Today Show will be airing a segment about Adult ADHD this Sunday morning. The Adult ADHD segment is scheduled to are at 8:15 am EDT on a Sunday morning.

I am assuming that the purpose is of this segment is to educate the general public about Adult ADHD and help those people struggling with Adult ADHD symptoms find help. I'm thinking the NBC Weekend Today Show didn't research Adult ADHD too well if they think a typical person with undiagnosed ADHD will be awake and watching the Today Show that early on a Sunday morning at 8:15 am.

I guess we can hope that spouses, partners, friends, family, and co-workers of people with undiagnosed Adult ADHD will be awake that early to watch. Maybe NBC will re-air the segment at a time when more people with undiagnosed Adult ADHD might actually watch the segment.

Update: I'm having real ADHD Day!! Jennifer Koretsky is actually going to be ON this segement! I missed that important part when she mentioned the segment!

Update 2: Boston only airs Weekend Today from 7-8 on Sundays. Luckily I get the Providence RI NBC Station too.

Dear Ignorant Abby

Did anybody happen to read today's Dear Abby?

From http://www.uexpress.com/dearabby/?uc_full_date=20090223

DEAR ABBY: I recently graduated from college, but aside from that, I can't seem to finish anything I start. I am a creative and talented designer, but because I no longer have deadlines, I don't see any of my projects through to completion.

I have tried giving myself personal deadlines to no avail, because I know there will be no consequences. Then I become angry and frustrated with myself, and the piles of uncompleted work get larger and larger. It seems like I am easily bored or stressed -- that's when I stop working. I long for a sense of accomplishment and pride in my abilities. Could I have a disorder? -- NEEDS HELP FINISHING TH ...

DEAR NEEDS HELP: Not unless being disorganized and not a self-starter is a disorder. Your inability to abide by personal deadlines will have serious "consequences" if you plan to have a career in design, because if you can't complete a project, you will have nothing to show potential clients. If you have nothing to show, you reduce the chances of being hired. So stop the self-indulgence and get moving!

For those who would like to help educate poor ignorant Dear Abby you can contact her here.

ADHD Gift vs Curse Debate

I have had it with this whole debate among the ADHD Community about whether ADHD is a Gift or Curse! It's not only a total waste of time but it causes way too much animosity between those with ADHD and professionals who are trying to help those with ADHD. Please Stop!!!!

If you have ADHD what's important is to find ways to live a happy and productive life! If you are a professional helping people with ADHD you should be helping them lead happier more productive lives!! ADHD affects everybody differently! To some ADHD is a Gift and to others it is a Curse!

Those living with ADHD know what ADHD is to them and don't need others telling them how to think!! ADHD is different to each person!! If somebody's life is a living hell because of ADHD that person doesn't need to be told it's a Gift. If somebody's is leading a happy productive life with ADHD they don't need to be told it's a Curse.

ADHD Awareness Marathon Underway

The ADHD Awareness Marathon is now underway and people have been asking a lot of different questions about Attention Deficit Disorder. I am so relieved the marathon has begun. I was starting to get really stressed out! In true ADD Fashion I had no idea how much planning was actually going to be involved to make my idea happen.

It's too bad Sheri Hall's Free ADHD Teleseminar - ADHD Project Time wasn't held before I came up with the idea for the ADHD Awareness Marathon. I'm sure I could have used a lot of her tips and suggestion and coaching too!
