It’s the beginning of November and as much I as I would like to ignore my calendar it’s getting very close to the holiday season. Over the past few years I have made some choices which make the holiday season a little more enjoyable and less stressful. One important choice I made was not to decorate inside out outside my house. For quite a few years I had every intention of putting up lights and other things yet all of a sudden Christmas came and went and I felt bad about not decorating.

A few years ago I realized that I really didn’t like to decorate and the whole idea of it was causing me far too much stress and anxiety. I also realized that it was okay if I didn’t decorate and it was my choice to make. One year I may decide that I do want to decorate but it will be because I want not because I feel like I “have to”.

What is something that you can do to make the holiday season more enjoyable for yourself?

Living in the northwest, with many gary days and long nights, decorating for the holidays really bright my spirits. Using timers with my outdoor lights helps with the electric bills. For the first time, I am going to hire a company to put up my house lights. This way they’ll get put up earlier, and I won’t get anxious about falling from a ladder. any other out/in-door decorations are done when they are done. No worries. BJ
